HISTORY


Luiz Fernando Clark was born in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, and his relationship with the sea began very early. Since the age of 3 he was fishing and boating at Rio's coast with his grandfather and father.

He started to paint at the age of 7. When he was 14, he started painting t-shirts with airbrush and brush, and selling all the production to his friends. Most of his tecniques he learned by himself and his perfectionism is his best characteristic.

In 1981 he initiated his studies at the Brazilian Fine Arts University, attending artistic painting classes to refine his tecniques.

In 1984 he became partner of "ENERGY", a brazilian surfboard factory, and with his design he helped to turn the factory into the largest in Brazil, selling surfboards to California, Hawaii, Japan and Australia.

In 1986 he do his first painting in boats a 50 feet sailboat, and started to paint boats in a Cigarette Boatyard that was specialized in a 28 feet offshore boat. In one year he had drawn and painted more than 30 boats.

In 1988, July , he moved to Viareggio, Italy, to work together in the construction of the 100 foot yatch, "Pilar Rossi". The owner was Nelson Piquet the Formula one and Indy Race pilot. At Italy he also worked at CUV (Cantiere Uniti Viareggio) on designs of two race Catmarans and Perini Navy Boatyard where he worked on a 150 feet 12 Million dolars boat “ANDROMEDA”. He also did artworks on Sofia Loren’s, Adnan Kashogui’s and King Faissal’s Megayatchs among others.
He stood 3 years in Italy improving his painting tecnics and visited other countries in Europe like England, France, German, Sweden and others.

In 1990 he was invited to work at Mares International Corp., starting his relationship with bill fishing boats.

In 1992 he did his first Miami Boat Show doing artworks on the first Cat 46' of Mares International where he met Guy Harvey and Al Barnes, two of the world's most nominated ocean fishing artists.

In 1993 he worked at Mares International boatyard at Titusville, Cape Canaveral to do the graphics of two catamarans 38' offshore showing them at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Until 1997 he worked exclusively to Mares international, painting all the best Fishing boats of Brazil. In this year the owner of Mares Int. Corp. closed the boatyard.

In 1998 he begin the study of contemporary arts with Daniel Senise one of the icons of this stile in Brazil. Clark begin to paint the images that he saw in his fishing trips.

In 1999 the first show of his paintings is sold out, he sold all 15 originals and it's limited editions. He did 6 shows in this year in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

In 2000 he made 3 shows in Buzios, Rio and São Paulo. Now his originals are made by commission. In this year is the Inauguration of his website.

In 2001 individual shows in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

In 2002 the first Boat Show in Rio de Janeiro with his own brand. After 16 years of participation with his paintings on boats this was the first time he have his name at the "front of the door".

In 2003, 2004 and 2005 he do paintings only by commission.

In 2005 one of his paintings was chosen by the board of judges of Marlin Magazine to be part of the Art Gallery Issue an honor for any artist.

In 2006, October, he did his first Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with his own brand selling his originals, it’s limited editions and hundreds of T shirts with his creations. In December he also did the Dive Show in Palm Beach. He had, again, one of his paintings chosen to be published in Marlins Art Gallery Issue.

In 2007 he did the Miami Boat Show in South Beach, he’s developing other articles with his creations (watches, tiles and giclées). His artwork is now in galleries at Boca Raton Fl and in the island of Kauai (Hawaii) showing that the quality of his work was approved by the American public.

He is developing the new line of T-shirts and new paintings.
